To: District 32 GSRs,
Group Members
District Officers & Committee Members
It's Thursday night and I just got home from a meeting at my home group and
am sitting down to write this months report. Our district got a few things squared
away this month and we are positioning ourselves for success in 2004. We are
starting our meeting 30 minutes earlier for the next 3 months to see if it positively
affects our ability to conduct business. I attended the first Area Quarterly
for 2004 in Enumclaw earlier this moth. Bob T. was gracious enough to take on
the responsibility of writing and submitting the WWA monthly newsletter report
and has done a great job so far. I worked with several people from the Area
to create and submit two motions which I brought before the area (we'll talk
more on later) and spoke to volunteers interested in helping maintain a District
32 website/website committee.
Jan Quarterly
The first quarterly for 2004 was held in Enumclaw on Saturday the 10th. Business
started at 8:00am and continued till about 4:30pm. Business went smoothly. A
total of nine motions were brought to the floor, all of which failed except
for one. The motion that passed was considered a housekeeping motion and was
presented by the DCM for District 32. A copy of the motion is in your handouts.
Please feel free to ask any questions regarding this and/or any other motions.
I also am including a copy of a motion I will be presenting to the area in
April and would appreciate any input you may have. Once a summary of the minutes
for the Jan. Quarterly are compiled, I will pass them out to all GSRs. Review
meeting notes and flyers that were handed out for more info..
District Finances
We are very fortunate to be starting 2004 with plenty of funds in our district
account. This is in nice contrast to years gone by. I am grateful to all those
who have helped support or district in order to create a solid service structure
and help us carry the message. Whether it's by meeting people & getting
to know others at our annual summer picnic, by hosting Grapevine and Literature
Quarterlies, by funding a district website to reach out to others via the Internet
or by supporting other AA events sponsored by Seattle Intergroup or other districts,
we are now in a position financially to help our district grow stronger and
offer greater financial support to the AA structure in our area. One such event
I would like us to consider is hosting an Area 72 quarterly in Federal Way for
either 2004 or 2005. Also on the table for us this year is the creation of a
budget framework. Among other things, a district budget will provide us with
a greater level of stability and allow us to better plan for activities for
2004 and beyond.
Reminder: New Address for Western Washington Area Treasure
This address was changed mid 2003, but as a friendly reminder please confirm
your groups treasure is aware of this change.

Burien Little Assembly Planning Meetings
The remaining BLA planning meetings for this year are 2/8 and 2/29 and are
held at Seattle Intergroup at noon. The 2003 BLA is being held the first weekend
in March. I would like to see about making a District 32 donation to support
the BLA this year.

WWA Newsletter Submission January 2004
After a wonderful holiday season, it's nice to be back in the swing of things.
I trust we all survived, and hope more that we have thrived. In district 32,
we are jumping with both feet in to the New Year.
GSR participation continues to grow with each month, with more and more groups
seeing the need to be a part of AA as a whole. With more participation come
more ideas for ways to better serve the district. It also requires much more
focus and organization in our use of meeting time. With that in mind, District
32 has streamlined it's meeting agenda to keep us on track, and we are expanding
our meeting time from 90 minutes to two hours to allow for full discussion of
issues and formulation of new business and motions.
The District 32 web site is complete, and open to all. You will find on this
site:
. DCM monthly reports
. District monthly meeting minutes
. Committee reports
. Upcoming WWA and District 32 events
. Links to WWA, AA.ORG, Intergroup, AAHistory, and other AA web sites.
. District Meetings Info
While the general consensus of most district 32 groups is that this site is
valuable as a way to keep our district members informed and connected, a formal
motion will be presented that will insure funding and staffing of the site on
a long-term basis.
One of our first orders of business in 2004 will be formulating a budget for
our district, which we have not had. We have spent the last half of 2003 gathering
a history of past contributions and expenditures to base the formal budget on.
This will ease decision making for future district activities.
In December, District 32 hosted the Western Washington Grapevine / Literature
quarterly. All reports indicate it was an invaluable weekend, and the food was
great. Thanks to Kelly G., our Grapevine committee chair, for a wonderful job.
Our DCM attended the first Quarterly of 2004 in Enumclaw and presented a motion
to change the Area 72 title of Web Servant to the industry standard title of
Webmaster. This was a welcomed change by many and the motion was passed.
January our focus was on "How to be a Group Treasurer", with Norm from the area
invited as our guest speaker. All group treasurers in our district were invited
to attend.
Here's to an outstanding year of service to all the districts in Western Washington.
Yours in Love and Service,
Bob T. , GSR, Federal Way Mens Stag
